BPO @ 75: Concerto for Orchestra

A personal selection by Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra’s Music Director, Michael Lloyd. The pomp and dignity of Wagner’s operatic prelude contrasts with the Romantic delicacy and playfulness of Canteloube’s famous settings of French folk songs. Bartók’s late orchestral masterpiece is full of Hungarian nostalgia, and shows off the skills of the orchestra in brilliant style.
