Urban Climate Walk: does our skyline shape our happiness?

Join this walk through Birmingham City Centre and discover how the built environment creates its own distinct microclimates. How much does the impact of urban density on our access to things like daylight and fresh air affect our comfort and well-being? Experience first-hand the dynamic influence of city buildings on the background climate and find out what it means for urban resilience and individual health.

On this unique tour, led by Julie Futcher and Emma Ferranti from the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, walk and talk about the links between architecture, town planning, climate, green infrastructure and well-being.

This event is presented as part of The Air We Breathe, a brand new public progamme at The Exchange bringing together cutting edge research from across the University of Birmingham. From a hydrogen train to a sci-fi forest, discover how the University is delivering clean air both here in Birmingham and around the world.
