International Women's Day (IWD) on 8 March celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and is a call to action to focus on the change still needed to achieve true global equality for women and girls. To mark IWD, the University runs a diverse programme of events throughout March, focusing on women's voices history and experiences.
The theme for IWD 2022 is #BreakTheBias. You can get involved in many ways. If you are not a member, consider joining the Women's Network, or you could download our Selfie frame and share pictures of how you are breaking the bias on social media using the #UoBwomen and #BreakTheBias. Finally, this is a great time to get inspired and think about putting on your own event as part of next year's programme.
International Women’s Day falls on Tuesday 8 March and to celebrate the diversity of experience of our alumnae, staff and students we will be running a new social media campaign on the day.
We are approaching alumnae individually to take part and would love it if you would join the conversation. We will be asking people to share the UoBwomen that inspire them by tagging them in post on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts on the day. The posts will go live at 09:00 and if you're joining us on Instagram we will be sharing a story template for you to use.
Whether it’s a member of staff who made a lasting impact on you or a friend you met at University who is doing something amazing, help us celebrate UoBwomen around the world and spread some kindness during this difficult time.
