Dr Rachel Humphris

Dr Rachel Humphris is a Lecturer in Social Policy at Birmingham University and Research Fellow of the Centre on Migration Policy and Society (COMPAS) at the University of Oxford. She has over 10 years of experience working with refugee and migrant communities and is currently the UK Coordinator the European Website on Integration.

Rachel has particular interests in new migration and inequality; comparative social policy across welfare states (specifically children and families); cities and urban diversity; and innovative qualitative research methods.

Recent work has included responses to unaccompanied asylum seeking children across Europe and the policy and practice implications of the expansion of state’s immigration control within welfare regulations. In the context of the EU Norface project, Rachel is a researcher for the UK case study, including interviews and policy analysis.
