The Centre offers research supervision leading to the award of either an MPhil (generally one year full-time) or a PhD (three years full-time).

The Centre strongly supports comparative and inter-disciplinary projects, and arrangements for joint supervision can be made both with the other language departments English and Modern Languages, and with departments such as Art History, Film and Visual Studies and Music which have a strong relevant research interest in Italy.
Postdoctoral opportunities
Applications for postdoctoral research within the ambit of the Centre under such programmes as the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships, Newton Fellowships and Marie Curie Fellowships (but not limited to these) are strongly encouraged.
Honorary Research Fellows
The Leopardi Centre is delighted to welcome its first four Honorary Research Fellows.
Visiting Fellows
A Visiting Fellowship is offered for tenure at Birmingham by a specialist in Leopardi and/or European Romanticism on an ad hoc basis.
