Business Transformation in the Pandemic

Speaker: Billie Major, Corporate Vice-President, Capgemini and CEO, HMRC Business Unit

Large IT Programmes have a bad reputation for delivering on time and to budget and yet, through the pandemic and unfamiliar home-working environment, a leading global IT Company supported their client in delivering systems like the Job Retention Scheme (Furlough) , which provided a financial lifeline for the UK.

What were the lessons learnt and how did these enable Capgemini to respond so positively to help those in need and deliver major transformational programmes more successfully than they did pre-pandemic?

University of Birmingham Alumna, Billie Major sits on the Capgemini People Board. She leads a team of over 3,000 IT professionals delivering and supporting systems across a wide range of solutions for Capgemini's biggest account: HM Revenue & Customs. Her team has been commended for meeting time, cost and quality targets on vital projects affecting everyone in the UK during lockdown. Billie has previously been named "Everywoman Technology Team Leader of the Year" in recognition of her achievements and received her award from the Princess Royal.
