Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Taster Day (year 12)

Wednesday 12 July 2023

Our Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Taster Day is for Year 12 pupils who are thinking about applying to university to study either Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and would like to get an idea about what the subjects are like at university level. The day will consist of interactive workshops around the theme of pharmaceutical development.

Student and Jon Wood (Outreach Fellow) during an outreach activity.

Our Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Taster Day is held at the University of Birmingham's Edgbaston campus beginning at 9.45am (registration from 9.15am) and finishing around 3:30pm. Throughout the day you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the differences and similarities between Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, taking part in workshops for both subjects. The day itself is free to attend, but students must make their own accommodation, travel and sustenance arrangements.

We ask that only pupils who are studying Mathematics and Chemistry OR Mathematics and Physics at A-Level and thinking seriously about studying Chemistry or Chemical Engineering at university attend. If you are not studying Maths A-Level please contact Lois Boyle who will be able to discuss this with you.
