The Centre for Digital Cultures at the University of Birmingham is delighted to host Maya B Kronic and Amy Ireland for a live audiovisual performance and Q&A to introduce their new book Cute Accelerationism (2024).

Just what is it that makes today’s cuteness so different, so appealing? And what is it doing to us? In this A/V performance based around their book Cute Accelerationism, authors Amy Ireland and Maya B. Kronic exploring the symptomatology, aetiology, epidemiology, history, biology, etymology, topology, and even embryology of Cute, burrowing down into its natural, cultural, sensory, sexual, subjective, erotic, and semiotic dimensions in order to sound out the latent spaces of this Thing that has an irresistible hold on contemporary culture. Nothing uncute makes it out of the near future!
