Teaching

I started teaching in 2001. Since then I have been employed by a number of British Higher Education Institutions (recently SOAS, University of London), FE colleges and other educational institutions. Subjects I have taught include English for Academic Purposes, Foundation Courses, Literacy Skills, ESOL, EAL and Polish as a Heritage Language. I also deliver sessions on teacher training courses at the University of London.

Research

I am interested in factors that facilitate the acquisition of a Heritage Language (minority language) in school children. My study aims to examine the development of bilinguals from a cross-linguistic perspective. So far, I have been focusing on literacy and exposure and their role in heritage language acquisition. As part of my project, I am also going to compare monolinguals and bilinguals in terms of their metalinguistic skills.
