Hosted by the School of Education Decolonising Team

There has been a growing interest about and engagement with decolonising education in our school, thanks to many colleagues’ vision and support. The School is piloting Decolonising the Curriculum project this year and in addition, decolonising is taught in some modules and researched in student  projects.  This forum is set up to create a space where staff and students can discuss about what we have learned so far, share good practices from our teaching and learning and contribute to the debates on decolonising matters.  We also hope that we can build capacity and a supporting network through this forum.

In this first forum event, we are going to hear short presentations from our own students who have either done extensive research on decolonising matters as part of their assignments or projects or have been involved in the decolonising project. The presenters will discuss:

  • What  decolonising education means for them as a student, a teacher, a researcher, an administrator or a manager;
  • What key issues do we need to consider in decolonising education.

We are also hoping to discuss how to use the forum to expand our work on decolonising education.

This forum workshop is open only to staff and students in the School of Education.
