This round table event is organized by the Birmingham Research Institute for History and Cultures (BRIHC).

The aim of the roundtable is to bring together scholars from across SHAC and beyond to share experiences of what “decolonisation” means in their respective disciplines. The second aim is agenda-setting: we will discuss practical strategies how to work towards decolonising knowledge production at our institution, in both research and teaching.

Speakers:

  • Dr Dan Reynolds (Decolonising Byzantine studies)
  • Dr Faye Sayer (Delonisation/Democratisation in Heritage studies)
  • Dr John Munro (Decolonising History)
  • Dr Gerald Mazarire and Dr Fuad Musallam (Decolonising African Studies and Anthropology);
  • Ava Clark (Palestine Exploration Fund)
