Scrapbooks, photo albums, shoeboxes of papers stuffed under the bed: our homes are the archives of our family history. We are the archivists, deciding what to keep and what to destroy, for ourselves and future generations.

This interactive workshop explores the contents and value of family archives, historically and in the present. Why do we keep what we do? What does it tell us about family, memory, history — and ourselves?

Hosted at the Cadbury Research Library, the workshop will include an exploration of family archives held in the Cadbury’s collections, as well as an opportunity to share an item (or photograph of an item) from your own family archives.

Please bring along an item (or a photograph of an item) that you have either inherited or would like to pass on. This is an interactive workshop, and there will be an opportunity to share and discuss these items as a group.
