Research

My research explores how moga (modern women in Japan) forged new identities that bridged the present and past, and East and West, through the transnational study of print culture in Japan and Britain. I aim to explore the role women’s magazines and popular novels played in disseminating modern gender ideals and moulding everyday lived experience.
