Research

My research interest lies in the relationship between architectural space and colonialism, politics and culture. Using a micro-historical research methodology, I take a British consulate building in China as a starting point, examining how the architectural space derived from colonialism can provide a material basis for the dual confrontation of politics and culture between China and Britain through the change of functional structure and architectural symbolic value, so as to understand the relationship between architectural space, colonialism and cultural vicissitude.
