PhD title: Architecture, Quasi-Colonialism and Politics: A Micro-History of the British Consulate in Wen-Chow
SupervisorsDr Berny Sèbe and Dr Helle Jorgensen
French Studies PhD/MA by Research (On-Campus or by Distance Learning)

I graduated from University of the Arts, London, then worked as a museum curator and exhibition designer.

My research interest lies in the relationship between architectural space and colonialism, politics and culture. Using a micro-historical research methodology, I take a British consulate building in China as a starting point, examining how the architectural space derived from colonialism can provide a material basis for the dual confrontation of politics and culture between China and Britain through the change of functional structure and architectural symbolic value, so as to understand the relationship between architectural space, colonialism and cultural vicissitude.
