The University’s highly acclaimed Birmingham University Singers and University Women's Choir perform under their directors Bob Chilcott and Jack Apperley.

Testament to the quality and strength of the University Music choral programme, Jack Apperley performed in University Singers as an undergraduate Music Student, and worked with many students choirs as a conductor. Going full circle, Jack was appointed as director of University Women's Choir in 2019 and is now a London-based freelance conductor. Jack read Music at the University of Birmingham where he was mentored by Simon Halsey CBE. Currently, he is Music Director and Conductor of the Imperial College Chamber Choir and Concordia Voices. He also works regularly with the London Symphony Chorus as an Assistant Chorus Master.
