Barber Lunchtime Concert
Sterling Elliot – 2023’s YCAT–Music Masters Robey Artist – is making waves in the USA where has already performed as a soloist with the likes of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony, and we’re very excited he will be making his debut Birmingham performance here at the University of Birmingham. He will be performing a dreamy French programme; after softly awakening to Debussy’s Rêverie, we hear the plaintive music of Ravel and D’Indy. Poulenc’s vibrant cello sonata adds a moment of fresh, light energy before we slip away to three sumptuous pieces by Nadia Boulanger.
- Debussy Rêverie
- Ravel Sonata Posthume
- D'Indy Lied, Op.19
- Poulenc Sonata for cello and piano, Op.143
- Boulanger 3 Pièces for cello and piano
