Hybrid modelling that integrates 'white box' (mechanistic, physics-based) and 'black box' (machine learning) is becoming common as it could combine the best of both worlds. This one-day workshop aims to bring together communities from both paradigms to interact, learn from one another and foster collaboration. There will also be a session to discuss the challenges of hybrid modelling and how best to address them.

Lectures

  • Machine Learning by Peter Tino (University of Birmingham, UK)
  • Mechanistic Modelling by Leah Band (University of Nottingham, UK)
