Equipment and Resources for Schools

There is a number of equipment that we can give to schools as a loan (duration of loan to be agreed). These include:

  • Cosmic Ray Telescopes for schools – cosmic ray telescopes can be loaned from the Particle Physics Research Group, together with teacher's pack and students pack to help in setting up experiments and ideas for data collection/projects in class.
  • Cloud Chambers for schools - school visits with cloud chambers and a spark chamber can be organised, from the Particle Physics Research Group, together with help in setting up experiments and ideas for data collection/projects in class.
  • Antikythera Mechanism Exhibition - the 20 banners of the exhibition and the software needed to allow viewing of the photographs of the fragments can be borrowed by schools on request.

Please contact Dr M Pavlidou to arrange any of the above.

In July 2017 one of our year 3 students, Alice Perry, completed an Ogden Internship in the department. During her internship Alice created a set of resources which can be used in the teaching of the H-R Diagram in GCSE Astronomy or A-level Physics. You can download these resources from the list below:
