The NEW Movement and Wellbeing Centre provides an ideal environment to offer multiple activities aimed at enhancing the physical and mental health of our local community while also supporting the wider activities of the University.
As part of this major development, we aim to commence a physiotherapy service for stroke survivors. The service will be largely staffed by the University’s physiotherapy students under the supervision and direction of qualified physiotherapists who specialise in stroke rehabilitation. This will provide invaluable experience for our physiotherapy students while also delivering a free and accessible physiotherapy service for stroke survivors in and around Birmingham.
How to get involved
We would like stroke survivors and their families/carers to join the discussions we are having with our colleagues in the NHS and at the Stroke Association – to help shape the service we deliver. If you are interested in taking part in these discussions, please complete the form below;
Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham
Our current Physiotherapy programme is ranked number one in the UK (Complete University Guide). The Physiotherapy programme is led by Dr David Punt who is a specialist in stroke rehabilitation and is also leading this initiative.
