Lee is a Professor and Deputy Director at the Centre for Patient-Reported Outcome Research (CPROR), Department of Applied Health Sciences. His research focuses on the optimisation of patient-reported outcomes (PRO) assessments for clinical research, routine clinical practice, and regulatory purposes.

Lee is the Lead for WP2 of the £12 million LifeArc Centre for Acceleration of Rare Disease Trials leading and co-ordinating the PRO research across the University of Birmingham, Newcastle University and Queen’s University Belfast.

Lee is a Co-Lead for the PRO theme of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre Birmingham.

Lee was the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Lead for 2 completed NIHR-funded projects and PPIE Lead for the NIHR Oxford-Birmingham Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Precision Cellular Therapeutics.

He is Principal Investigator and a co-investigator for over 25 grants with a total grant income of over £10 million. He has published over 100 articles with several first author publications in The Lancet, Nature Medicine, Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, and Nature Communications.

Lee has received several invitations as guest speaker and subject expert.

Teaching

Lee is currently a tutor on the Selection, Collection and Reporting of Outcomes Module of the MSc Clinical Trials programme. He serves as a small group tutor on Year 1 and 2, undergraduate MBChB modules within the College of Medicine and Health. In addition, he supervises undergraduate MBChB projects (HIER & PIP) and PhD students. Lee is a supervisor and marker for the MPH dissertation, and a personal academic tutor (PAT) for the MPH programme.
