Biography

Manas Chacko is a public health researcher with over six years of experience managing health research studies non-communicable diseases. He holds a postgraduate degree in Public Health and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. His core expertise includes epidemiology, biostatistics, and project management.

Prior to joining the University of Birmingham, Manas worked as a Clinical Research Analyst at Aster Medcity Hospital, where he managed several clinical research studies across various specialties. His responsibilities included designing study protocols, analysing datasets, and interpreting results. He has played a major role in several large-scale research initiatives, most notably serving as the national project manager for the Indian Council of Medical Research funded National Heart Failure Registry. He has also contributed to research studies and clinical trials focused on stroke prevention, coronary heart disease, and Parkinson’s disease.

Manas is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Health Research at the University of Birmingham, funded by the NIHR RIGHT programme. His doctoral research focuses on measuring multimorbidity treatment burden in primary care settings in India, with the aim of developing and validating tools to assess the impact of managing multiple long-term conditions, particularly in resource-limited settings. In addition to his doctoral work, Manas is actively involved in the NCD Flood India project, where he supports the development of data collection tools and a project database.
