Sarah Tearne is a  Trials Management Team Leader within the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit at the University of Birmingham. She has 10 years of experience working in clinical trials at multiple universities. Her area of expertise is primary care research however she works across a number of different research areas including, mental health, public health and neuroscience. Within the Unit she manages a portfolio of trials and the teams that run them.

  • BA (Hons) in English and Public Relations,  University of Sheffield Hallam,  2006
  • Certificate in Leadership and Management,  ILM, 2014
  • Prince II qualification in Project Management, University of Birmingham, 2012

Biography

In addition to her work, Sarah's personal area of interest is in the efficient running of clinical trials and increasing her knowledge and expertise in this area. As such she is a deputy lead for the Running a Clinical Trial module on the Clinical Trial MSc  at the University of Birmingham. She also completed her MSc in Evidence-Based Health Care at University of Oxford.

Sarah has a strong interest in qualitative and mixed methods research. Her MSc dissertation was a mixed methods piece of work for which she obtained a distinction.
