Dr. Zhaonan Wang is a Research Fellow who focuses on Epidemiology and Pharmacoepidemiology. Her research specialises in using large-scale routinely collected health data to investigate chronic disease outcomes, medication safety, and health inequalities, particularly in relation to diabetes and its complications.
Zhaonan completed her PhD in Applied Health Research at the University of Birmingham. Her doctoral research used linked primary care and hospital datasets, including THIN, CPRD, and Hospital Episode Statistics, to examine the risk, outcomes, and treatment effects of diabetic foot disease.
Zhaonan works on multiple research projects addressing public health priorities, including painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy, alcohol-related liver disease, and maternal health. Her work involves designing epidemiological studies and analysing electronic health record data.
She also supports teaching and supervision of postgraduate students undertaking research using large-scale health datasets.
