Dr Fangzhou Xu is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Applied Health Research. He is currently working on UoB-Guangzhou collaborative research projects focusing on healthy aging and clinical trials led by Professor KK Cheng.

Biography

Fangzhou joined the Institute of Applied Health Research as a Research Fellow in January 2023. Previously, he completed his undergraduate studies in Economics in 2016, funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), and received a MSc degree in Economics from the University of Birmingham in 2017.

After a year of working in the financial sector as a macroeconomic analyst, Fangzhou returned to the University of Birmingham to pursue a PhD. With funding from the University of Birmingham Global Challenges Scholarship Committee (GC), he worked on an interdisciplinary collaborative research project in Economics and Health Economics and completed his PhD in 2022.

Research interests:

Economic Psychology, Applied Microeconomics, Health Econometrics, Economic Evaluation in Public Health and Epidemiology

Current projects:

Fangzhou is currently working closely with clinical and research teams in Guangzhou on a healthy aging cohort and clinical trials.

Fangzhou is also working on well-being evaluations of inflation using consumer price indices and online user-generated data.
