Dr Gavin Lloyd gained his PhD in 2009 with Professor Richard Brereton at the University of Bristol. His PhD project involved the development of chemometrics and pattern recognition techniques for multivariate datasets.
Following his PhD, he joined the Biophotonics Research Unit, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital as a postdoctoral research fellow working with Professor Nick Stone, Professor Hugh Barr and Dr Catherine Kendall. Here he developed chemometric routines to process Raman and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) spectra of human samples for cancer diagnostics.
In September 2017 he joined the Phenome Centre Birmingham team where he develops and applies both univariate and multivariate data analysis workflows to metabolomics datasets.
