Jing Du is an Associate Professor (Senior Lectutrer) in Accounting and Finance at the University of Birmingham. Before joining the University of Birmingham, she was an Assistant Professor at Durham University. She holds the SFHEA and has many years’ experience in teaching and supervising a variety of Accounting, Finance and Economics related modules at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels in higher education since the first year of her PhD research. Her research interests lie in the areas of corporate finance, political connections, financial constraints, and Chinese households’ behaviours.

Biography

Jing Du is an Associate Professor (Senior Lectutrer) in Accounting and Finance at the University of Birmingham. Before joining the University of Birmingham, she was an Assistant Professor at Durham University. She holds the SFHEA and has substantial experience in teaching and supervising a variety of Accounting, Finance and Economics related modules at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate (including MBA) levels in higher education since the first year of her PhD research.

Jing Du’s research interests lie in the areas of corporate finance, political connections, financial constraints, and Chinese households’ saving and consumption behaviours. She is also interested in Chinese economy, links between finance and macroeconomic activity, and firm behaviour under imperfect capital markets. Jing has given presentations at a broad range of workshops and conferences. She was awarded the Neil Hood and Stephen Young Prize for the Most Original New Work at the AIB Annual Conference. She also has a good range of administrative work and social experience in universities, business, and associations to contribute to local community.

With years of experience working with students and stakeholders from a variety of cultural and academic backgrounds, Jing is highly capable of delivering impactful teaching and practical business coaching tailored to different learning needs. In addition to her academic credentials, she actively engages with real-world business environments and brings a wealth of case studies and hands-on experiences into education and research.
