Annie Pettifer is an Assistant Professor within the School of Nursing and Midwifery and member of the Research in End of Life, Advanced illness and Complex Health and Social care (REACH) research program.   

Annie has extensive experience as a registered generalist nurse and specialist practitioner in  District Nursing. Her clinical background is particularly in specialist palliative care nursing within both the community, hospice, and hospital settings. She is an experienced nurse educator with expertise in inter-professional healthcare education, and pre and post nurse registration programs across all academic levels including masters and doctorial students. 

Annie completed her PhD in the Philosophy of Palliative Care  in 2021. Her research interests include improving the experiences of family members of people dying in hospitals, supporting patients and families with diminishing drinking at the end of life, philosophical underpinnings of research including pragmatism, narratology and ensuing methods.
