Biography

Heather came to the University of Birmingham (September 2025) from Birmingham City University where she was a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing. Whilst at Birmingham City University Heather contributed to a range of nursing programmes and led the return to practice provision, and admissions for the MSc nursing programme.

Heather spent 19 years as a nursing officer in the British Army and this experience has allowed her to be able to apply her nursing skills and knowledge in varied and challenging settings; often using these to offer unique insights when teaching. In addition, nursing in the Army afforded Heather the opportunity to develop leadership skills as well as appreciating the nuances and techniques around team working and team building.
