Dr. Jibran is a medical doctor and cancer epigenetics researcher with academic and clinical experience spanning Pakistan, Japan, the UAE, and the UK. After completing his medical degree, he earned a Ph.D. in Medical Life Sciences from the University of Toyama, Japan, where he investigated the epigenetic mechanisms driving tumour development. This work laid the foundation for his ongoing interest in how epigenetic modulation influences carcinogenesis and therapeutic responses.
He subsequently joined the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah, UAE, serving as Associate Professor of Human Anatomy and Cell Biology. Over more than a decade of teaching across three countries, he has taught anatomy, embryology, and cell biology to diverse cohorts of medical students, contributing to curriculum design, laboratory instruction, and research supervision. In 2024, he joined the University of Birmingham as an Associate Professor in the Human Anatomy Unit, where he continues to advance research and innovate in medical education.
As a researcher, Jibran focuses on understanding the role of epigenetic modulation in carcinogenesis and infectious diseases. He has secured several research grants from external funding agencies, has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and established multiple international collaborations. His scientific contributions have earned recognition including the National Scholar Award from the United European Gastroenterology Association, the Promising Young Researcher Award from the King Hussein Cancer Foundation in Jordan and the Al Jalila Foundation in Dubai.
