Sharon joined the University of Birmingham in 2023 as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Pharmacy and Prescribing.  Sharon is the Director of the Independent Prescribing Programme and the Interprofessional Education Lead within the School of Pharmacy.

Sharon has a varied background in both primary and secondary care in addition to academia.  Sharon’s area of interest is online learning, especially the use of innovative technology to enhance the learning experience for online distance learners.

Biography

Sharon has always had an interest in education and development and became a clinical supervisor after completing her clinical diploma.  Prior to joining UoB Sharon was a Teacher Practitioner for the University of Wolverhampton, and a Senior Lecturer at Keele University.  Sharon has also worked for the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education as a Regional Tutor. 

During her time at Keele University she was mainly involved in teaching on their postgraduate programmes, where she developed an interest in innovate ways of delivering online learning and assessment.

Prior to working in academia Sharon worked for 10 years in an NHS Trust and still spends part of her week working in practice to maintain her skills.
