Dr Dita Wickins-Drazilova is the Lead for Ethics and Law on the MBChB and Graduate Entry Course (GEC) programmes in Birmingham Medical School. She was appointed the Associate Professor in Biomedical Ethics & Law by the University of Birmingham in September 2021.

Dr Wickins-Drazilova has over twenty years’ experience of teaching, scholarship and research in the field of applied ethics, particulary medical ethics and other areas of ethics applied to healthcare.

Biography

I have over 20 years of experience teaching and researching various areas of applied ethics, such as medical ethics, healthcare ethics, research ethics and animal and environmental ethics. I studies philosophy and sociology and environmental studies and have a PhD on the topic of applied ethics.

Other activities

Dr Wickins-Drazilova is the Academic Lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) for Birmingham Medical School, being passionate about tackling discrimination and unconscious bias in universities and other educational and healthcare settings.

Since 2018, she has been an active member of the Education Committee of the Institute of Medical Ethics, the main professional body in the UK that advises on Ethics and Law teaching and supports knowledge transfer nationally. She has taken on roles such as advising on the national curriculum of the subject, marking national essay competitions or judging national student debates: https://ime-uk.org/
