Rachael holds a PhD in Integrative Neuroscience from Cardiff University and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Reading.
Rachael’s expertise is in health research, encompassing research design, data collection, and analysis of complex and sensitive data to better understand human health. Rachael completed a PhD in Integrative Neuroscience at Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre, investigating neurovascular and metabolic function in healthy and clinical populations. In 2019, Rachael joined the Applied Neuro-Vascular Imaging Lab at Northwestern University as their first Postdoctoral Research Fellow, operationally leading research studies and training research students. During this postdoc, Rachael became actively involved in open science and software best practices, joining the Physiopy community. In 2022, Rachael joined The Alan Turing Institute as a Data Wrangler, working within the AI for Multiple Long-term Conditions Research Support Facility. At Turing, Rachael worked for 1 year as an Independent Scientist Advisor for BridgeAI.
She joined the Research Software Group at the University of Birmingham as a Senior Research Data Scientist in 2025.
