In March 2025, Rachael joined the Research Software Group and the Institute for Data and AI (IDAI) as a Senior Research Data Scientist. Rachael is a 2025 Fellow of the Software Sustainability Institute, which works to "enable world-class research" by helping people build better and more sustainable research software.

Biography

Rachael completed a PhD in Integrative Neuroscience at Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre, investigating neurovascular and metabolic function in healthy and clinical populations. In 2019, Rachael joined the Applied Neuro-Vascular Imaging Lab at Northwestern University as their first Postdoctoral Research Fellow, operationally leading many research studies and training research students. During this postdoc, Rachael became actively involved in open science and software best practices, joining the Physiopy community.  In 2022, Rachael joined The Alan Turing Institute as a Data Wrangler, working within the AI for Multiple Long-term Conditions Research Support Facility. At Turing, Rachael worked for 1 year as an Independent Scientist Advisor for BridgeAI and also joined CPRD’s Scientific Advisory Group.
