Mohamad Zalzale is an interdisciplinary scientist with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, and an MSc in Computational Physics from the University of Montpellier, France. He has lived in six countries and worked across academia and industry, including as a research scientist in Norway and services manager in Kuwait.

Mohamad joined the University of Birmingham Dubai at its inception in 2018 and has served as Head of Education and member of the Senior Management Team since 2021. His work focuses on academic planning, operational excellence, and student experience, and is underpinned by data-driven approaches that ensure the effective delivery of institutional strategy.

Mohamad teaches courses in computational methods and mathematics across a range of disciplines and levels, from foundation year to postgraduate taught programmes.
