Steve Shaw is an Electronic Engineer and Senior Manager with 35 years’ professional experience mostly in RF engineering and engineering management. 

His role at the University is to help improve the course content and provide industrial supervision for postgraduate projects.

Biography

Steve has a BEng(Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MSc(Eng) in Microelectronics and Telecommunications from University of Liverpool in 1991.  He’s a member of the IET and a Chartered Engineer.  

He has enjoyed a 35-year RF engineering career within industry, initially in a variety of design engineering roles before moving into management and building of multidisciplinary engineering teams.  He has experience in commercial mobile networks, defence and space industries, the majority of which has been with Filtronic plc, Nokia and Radio Design Ltd.

Technical experience includes microwave transceivers, power amplifiers and other radio equipment, in a range of roles spanning software, RF and system engineering.  His current focus is on high frequency (up to W-band) transceiver equipment for satellite communications.
