I am a Senior Instructional Design Consultant at the University of Birmingham working in the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Hub with specific responsibility for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences. In my role I support all technology enhanced learning activities within the institution covering from our virtual learning environment, Instructure Canvas along with integrations such as Panopto and Turnitin.
I spend my days meeting staff and course teams to give guidance on the potential of the eLearning in their courses along with identifying what is possible at all levels of the organisation.
My interest in E-Learning, grew from my time at University of Leicester, where I was involved in the deployment of Blackboard at the School of Education. On leaving Leicester I joined the staff at the University of Birmingham Medical school, where I developed a keen interest in the use of lecture capture technology for supporting staff and students, having gained experience of both Echo360 and Panopto. Other areas of knowledge include student feedback, online / offline marking and how technology can support this, along with the general use of different technology for learning.
Specialties: Panopto and Echo360 event Capture technology for podcasting etc, Instructure Canvas, Virtual Learning Environments, ePortfolios, Pebblepad
In my private life I am a keen archer, shooting for a local midlands club, for which I am also a qualified coach. I also write an online archery blog and am an occasional contributor to Bow International magazine.
