Biography

I joined the University of Birmingham in December 2018. I have worked in Higher Education for over 5 years, including a mixture of teaching and running various initiatives around student engagement. My first role included leading on work around student transition into Higher Education, improving retention and academic skills with first year students. During this time I also taught in the University’s Faculty of Arts, Design and Media, until I eventually moved to work in learning and teaching enhancement unit as a Lecturer in Learning Technology. My main areas of research within this role were the gamification of learning and using online platforms to encourage and structure reflection.
