I am a Principal Education Developer and Assessment & Feedback Lead in the Education Development Team (Libraries and Learning Resources). I work in partnership with colleagues across disciplines to support the design of inclusive, authentic, and robust approaches to assessment, with particular attention to assessment for learning and assessment in the context of generative AI.

My work focuses on assessment redesign, feedback practices, and curriculum development, and I contribute to academic development programmes across the University. I currently co-lead the University’s Generative AI–Resilient Assessment project, exploring practical approaches that promote meaningful learning, maintain academic standards, and support colleagues in responding constructively to the rapid development of generative AI.

Biography

I have worked in education enhancement at the University of Birmingham since 2007. I began as a Research Projects Officer in the Learning Development Unit and later co-led the Education Enhancement Fund, supporting colleagues across the University to design, evaluate, and disseminate educational enhancement projects.

I moved into my current role in 2019. Before joining higher education, I spent ten years working in the voluntary sector, latterly as a Community Development Manager.
