Qianxi’s current research is mainly on bubble dynamics and cavitation generation.

Qianxi has published 60 journal papers. About a half of them are in A* journals in Applied Mathematics according to the ERA Journal rankings (widely used by mathematicians for journal ranking). For a list of publications, please see google scholar or researchgate.

Qianxi has obtained over £2M research grants in total from EPSRC, Ministry of Defence, Singapore and NSFC, etc. He currently has an EPSRC grant entitled “Can we maximise cavitation around dental ultrasonic scaler tips?" as CI with £360K of allocated funding.

He has led the Birmingham Bubble Group since 2013, a well-recognized world leading group in the mathematics of bubbles.

Qualifications

  • Ph D in Fluid Mechanics 1990
  • BSc in Fluid Mechanics 1983

Biography

Qianxi obtained his BSc and PhD in Fluid Mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1983 and 1990 respectively. Following his PhD, he was a lecturer for two years at USTC. He worked in Singapore for 14 years, mainly at the DSO National Laboratories of Singapore as Senior Member of Technical Staff. He joined the University of Birmingham in 2006.
