Dr Omid Doustdar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, and Deputy Head of the SMaRT Research Group.

 

He has more than 10 years of teaching, research, and industrial experience in environmental pollutant control and decarbonisation technologies, working as a research fellow and teaching fellow at the University of Birmingham, and as a seconded researcher in world-leading industries, collaborating with them on power solutions, marine, and transportation. Additionally, he has extensive industrial experience in textile processing, including its impact on air quality, waste, and the market, enabling him to identify challenges.

His research focuses on net-zero solutions with potential benefits for the manufacturing and textile industry and energy security. His research areas are Nature-Inspired Design, Tribology, Upcycling and Recycling, Air Quality, Environmental Pollutant Control in Textiles, Additive Manufacturing, and Advanced Propulsion Systems.

Dr Doustdar's reserach group at University of Birmingham is: TERMEH (Textile – Engineering – Recycling – Materials – Environment – Health).
