Steph joined the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme as an Assistant Professor in May 2020. She leads on the Older Adult curriculum, and inputs into the Neuropsychology and PPD curriculum.

Biography

Steph is an Assistant Professor on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme at the University of Birmingham. She leads the older adult curriculum and have made significant contributions to the neuropsychology curriculum. She is currently supervising six active research projects.

Steph has worked as a qualified Clinical Psychologist in the NHS for 13 years. She leads inpatient services for older people in Birmingham & Solihull. Her clinical interest and passion is neuropsychological assessment of dementia, and post-diagnostic support to people living with dementia and their families. Steph manages and supervises qualified and unqualified staff, including Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

Steph is Chair of the West Midlands branch of FPOP (Faculty of Psychologists working with Older People), a sub-division of the Division of Clinical Psychology at the BPS, as well as co-editor of the FPOP Bulletin.

Research

Steph’s research interests include person-centred care for people living with dementia, carer's understanding of dementia, and improving understanding of stress and distress in dementia.
