Dr Melanie Snape has worked in the School of Psychology since 2016, firstly with the CBT Programme and more recently with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme, as Academic Director. Melanie currently contributes to CBT training and supervision across the school of Psychology and continues to work clinically in the NHS.

Biography

Melanie trained as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Birmingham and has been a tutor, lecturer and supervisor for the Clinical Psychology training course since qualifying in 1996. She worked as a Clinical Psychologist for more than 20 years in NHS Adult Community Mental Health services, leading the provision of CBT in her Trust and specialising in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In September 2016, Melanie took up a part time role, leading the Post-Graduate Diploma courses in the CBT Programme at the University of Birmingham. In 2023, Melanie moved to the Clinical Psychology Doctorate training programme, where she is currently CBT Pathway Lead and Academic Director. Melanie continues to practice in the NHS, currently as Clinical Lead in the BSol Staff Mental Health Service.

Melanie has experience of teaching all types of CBT skills courses and specialises in teaching about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
