Dr Katia is an assistant professor with expertise in quantitative research methods, individual differences, and mental health. Her research interests include development and validation of psychological measures, cognitive and social processes in clinical decision-making, and critical thinking skills.

Biography

Dr Katia Vione graduated with a BSc in Psychology from the Federal University of Paraiba (Brazil) in 2010 and completed her MSc Psychology, at the same institution, in 2012. From 2013 to 2016, Katia received a full scholarship from Capes Foundation (Brazil) and completed her PhD at Cardiff University, which investigated the effect of social perception processes on interpersonal relationships. From 2017 to 2024, she worked at as a lecturer at the University of Derby teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Katia has been an Assistant Professor in Psychology at the University of Birmingham since 2025.

Teaching

Dr Katia Vione primarily teaches on the MSc Mental Health Distance Learning.

Postgraduate supervision

Dr Katia Vione welcomes inquiries from prospective PhD students interested in projects on psychological processes involved in clinical decision-making, pedagogical research on critical thinking skills, and psychometrics.
