Dr Chantelle Wiseman is an Academic Psychiatrist who has interests in PTSD, personality and mood disorders. She currently works in Professor Steven Marwaha’s Mood Disorders Research Group at the Institute for Mental Health. She also practises clinically as a General Adult Psychiatry Registrar in the West Midlands Deanery.

Biography

Dr Chantelle Wiseman is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry. She graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of Leicester in 2012. She completed the Academic Foundation Programme in Wales and a year of GP training before undertaking Core Psychiatry Training in Wales. During this time she was awarded a Distinction in an MSc in Psychiatry, alongside completing her Royal College of Psychiatist membership examinations (MRCPsych).

She moved her career to the Southwest of the UK to commence her Higher Psychiatry Training and completed her doctorate at the University of Bristol. This examined the relationship between social cognition and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She commenced her Academic Clinical Lectureship in Psychiatry at the University of Birmingham in October 2024, combining mental health research with her clinical practice as a Higher Psychiatry Resident Doctor in the West Midlands Deanery.

Teaching

I currently provide teaching for students on the MBChB course on their Psychiatry modules at the University of Birmingham, based at The Barberry. I also undertake bedside teaching for students on placements.
