Louise is an Assistant Professor in Social Work and a qualified social worker. She teaches across the qualifying social work programmes and leads the Social Work Research Internship Programme. Louise’s research focuses on the experiences of carers and families, with a particular focus on carer harm across the life-course and the inequalities that shape different types of ‘care work’. Louise also researches the support needs of, and responses to, victim-survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Teaching

Louise is the module lead for the Year 3 BA Dissertation and the Year 2 BA and Year 1 MA Journeys Across the Life-course modules.

Postgraduate supervision

Louise supervises postgraduate researchers working on topics relating to families and carers, sexual and domestic violence, and experiences of victim-survivor journeys through illness and ‘recovery’ from abuse.
