Angela is a Research Fellow in Evidence Synthesis at the Birmingham Centre for Evidence and Implementation Science. She works on NICE technology appraisals, focusing on dissemination, and researches behaviour change, antimicrobial resistance, women’s reproductive health, and health inequalities.

Biography

Angela is a Research Fellow in Evidence Synthesis at the Birmingham Centre for Evidence and Implementation Science. With a background in health sciences and evidence-based medicine, she specialises in systematic reviews and health technology assessments, particularly for NICE technology appraisals. Her work focuses on ensuring that research findings are effectively disseminated to inform policy and practice.

Angela has a background in healthcare research particularly focusing on medical education assessment within the context of urinary tract infections antibiotic prescribing. Throughout her academic journey, she developed expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods, systematic literature review methods including meta-analysis, and health policy evaluation.

Teaching

Angela has taught MBChB and Health Sciences research students during case-based learning, and postgraduate modules related to systematic reviews and critical appraisal.

Postgraduate supervision

Angela is interested in supervising doctoral research relating to research on evidence synthesis, systematic reviews, antimicrobial resistance, behavioural change in healthcare, women’s reproductive health, and health inequalities. She welcomes interdisciplinary and policy-focused research proposals.

Angela is part of the Technology Appraisal Review (TAR) group at the Centre for Evidence and Implementation Science (CEIS), which is home to the NIHR West Midlands Technology Appraisal Review Team and the NIHR Evidence Synthesis Group
