Frankie is an Associate Professor in Sociology and the Head of Education for the School of Social Policy and Society. She teaches and researches in the areas of gender, sexuality, media and culture.

Biography

Frankie joined the Department of Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology in 2017. She is now an Associate Professor in Sociology and the current Head of Education for the School of Social Policy and Society.

Her research interests include gender, sexuality, postfeminism and digital culture. She was awarded her PhD at the University of Birmingham. Her thesis explored girls’ and young women’s relationship to social media platforms, and was later written up as a monograph entitled Digital Femininities: The Gendered Construction of Cultural and Political Identities Online.

Teaching

Frankie currently leads the second year undergraduate Gender and Sexuality module in the department of Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology.

Postgraduate supervision

Frankie currently supervises PhD projects in the areas of gender, sexuality and digital culture. Frankie also supervises dissertations on the MRes Sexuality and Gender Studies.
