Dr Grace Tidmarsh is a Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow whose expertise lies in process evaluations and translating sport psychology to complex community settings and has played a key role in large public engagement activities at The Exchange and has won prestigious awards for her research including the Young Investigator Award at the European College of Sport Science Congress in 2019.

Biography

Dr Grace Tidmarsh did graduate work on the positive youth development programme National Citizen Service (NCS) and completed an ESRC funded PhD at the University of Birmingham in collaboration with community partner St Basils. Her PhD was a process evaluation that investigated the delivery style of a strengths-based mental skills training programme delivered to support young people experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. She subsequently worked at the University of Birmingham as Teaching Fellow before taking up a dual role as Research and Teaching Fellow.

Dr Grace Tidmarsh teaches on the Sport and Mental Health (Level 6) module.

Research

Dr Tidmarsh is interested is a social scientist with interests relating to strengths-based sport psychology, implementation, and evaluation of positive youth development interventions in community settings. She is particularly interested in aspects of evaluation pertaining to implementation processes and the development and implementation of accessible data collection methods that meet the needs of those using them to promote inclusive research. Dr Tidmarsh also has broad research interests in mental health, youth homelessness, and girls engagement in sport and physical activity.
