This module is designed to prepare students for clinical practice within the fields of medical and surgical cardiovascular and cardio-respiratory health care. A key component will include development of knowledge of relevant theoretical scientific principles, with application to real-world scenarios through use of case studies, in order to help students acquire clinically relevant and evidence-based knowledge and understanding. Practical sessions will involve the acquisition of appropriate assessment and treatment skills, centred on the principles of clinical effectiveness, integration of theory and practice being a key feature. Students will be facilitated to develop an holistic approach to patient management, using clinical reasoning and a client-centred attitude to promote partnerships in decision-making.
