This module builds from the first year Becoming a Researcher module and focuses on more advanced research skills, such as developing research questions, study design, approaches to and data collection. It will also cover qualitative data analysis techniques, such as thematic analysis.
By the end of the module students should be able to:
- Develop an appropriate research question that addresses a problem identified from relevant literature
- Critically evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of different research designs and data collection methods (including quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods)
- Identify and explain the features of high quality research
- Identify and explain the key principles of analysis in qualitative research
